The maneless male of Samburu
Supukon is a male lion in Samburu National Reserve. He is from the Koitogor Pride and he is about 5 years old without a mane, which makes him to be unique from others.
We named him Supukon after a famous guy known in the Samburu tribe who used to live in the Mathews Range forest. He was like a giant and never associated himself with other people. Supukon the man, used to disappear in the bush whenever he would see people.
This lion, Supukon, is exactly like the man. He is the only male lion without a mane and is also really huge! He has a great big head and large paws. Also, the first time we saw him, he immediately disappeared into the bush and we could not find him again. We decided to give him that name due to his similarity with the famous Samburu man, Supukon.
